Known as Costa Rica's Amazon because of its surrounding rain forest, the Tortuguero Canal region is rich with exotic flora and fauna. You'll enjoy a short scenic bus ride, passing by banana plantations and small, rustic towns as you make your way to the canals. Arriving to Moin wharf, You'll then board covered boats for the highlight of your tour: a cruise through the Tortuguero jungle canals, part of the river system that parallels Costa Rica's Caribbean coast.
As you leisurely float along the canals, keep an eye out for monkeys, crocodiles, sloths and toucans, along with the variety of exotic flora that thrives in this rich ecosystem.
You'll then reboard your motorcoach for the short drive back to your ship.
This tour includes a city tour around Limon and a visit to the souvenirs shops and a special extension is offered for a small extra charge. (Extension can be Cahuita National Park, Sloths Rehab Center, Banana Plantation or the Beaches.
